Competitor Analysis Done in a Smarter Way

Competitor due diligence is a hard topic. Especially in an industry that is upcoming and is brimming with seemingly similar companies. It is not simple to identify the most relevant companies that are doing similar things. We need to use new smarter ways to filter out the important competition quickly and allow us to focus on the relevant ones. Let’s take the example of the ongoing battery materials innovation. The recent electric vehicle revolution has ignited many highly skilled research heavy startups to experiment with battery materials. The last few years has seen a great boom in the battery space.

In our quest to find out what Elon Musk has in store for us for the battery day, I came across a company called “Amprius Technology”. I wondered about the uniqueness of their technology and found many competitors with a simple google search. However, had to find a way to narrow down the list.

So I checked it with the SEO analyzer app at infranodus and Typed in “Amprius Competitors” . After hitting the “reveal non obvious” button, I was able to find out which other competitors are relevant that helped me to be more focused in my research. There are 4 other competitors and are clustered together because they are connected due to the key words “Silicon” and “Anode” . Infranodus was able to narrow down Google’s competitor list


Sila is quite an important competitor that is rumoured to have been already bought by Tesla. There are tons of speculation about Sila on batteries and Tesla focused forums. Enovix is another interesting one that got venture vetting only a couple months ago when they raised funding of 45M in April 2020.
