SomaSync: Fractal HRV Tracking & Entrainment
SomaSync is a bodymind metronome entrainer for iPhone and Apple Watch that uses haptic / sonic / visual feedback to tune you into a fractal rhythm. It also provides state-of-the art fractal HRV tracker using the established DFA algorithm that’s used in medical science to assess your body’s resilience and adaptivity.

Instead of focusing on exercising in HR activity zones, you can now optimize your activity to keep your body in a highly adaptive and resilient state using fractal breathing patterns and movement entrainer in SomaSync.

SomaSync helps synchronize your physiology with natural fractal rhythms—patterns found in systems that are both resilient and adaptive (including your heartbeat). It can be used to entrain the body and mind toward greater coherence, adaptivity, balance, and responsiveness.

Users can sync with the fractal rhythm through their breathing, walking, movement, meditative perception, or vagal nerve stimulation.
Research has shown that variability in breathing influences heart rate variability (HRV). Fractal patterns in HRV are linked to healthy, adaptive, and resilient physiological states. A growing body of research indicates that fractal variability has beneficial effects on cardiac function, neurological regulation, and physiological resilience.

Using the app, you can also measure your heartbeat variability (HRV) and its fractality using the the Polar H10 sensor (the leading and most precise consumer sensor used by professional athletes). Polar H10 can be connected directly to your Apple Watch without the need to use an iPhone.
Based on the value of alpha (fractal component calculated using the DFA algorithm) you can see whether your body is in adaptive, tense, regular, or recovering state and adjust your activity accordingly. The optimal state is when the alpha is close to 1 — that means your parasympathetic and sympathetic systems are balanced and influence your body at every scale. A body in an adaptive state is sensitive both to the smallest impulses and bigger perturbations.
The HRV tracker provides optional sonic and haptic feedback (both on iPhone and Apple Watch) so you can feel the state you’re in without the need to constantly check the screen.
You can also get the latest Apple Watch readings (heart beat and HRV) to see the effects of fractal entrainment on your body.
It is possible to export the data (alpha component and RR intervals) as a CSV file for further analysis.
