Knowledge Graphs and Mind Maps

  • Best AI Tools in 2024

During the last two years, there has been an advance in AI tools that make use of the new models to facilitate work and learning. Apart from ChatGPT and the like, such as Perplexity and Claude, there are also multiple tools that help users automate workflows and make it easier to write SEO-optimized articles, create virtual video avatars, and analyze large troves of data.

In this graph, we combined the most interesting tools that we know (as of 2024). The default graph view is bipartite: it shows both the tools (marked with an @ sign) and the various applications they have (standard concept nodes). You can choose to filter to show only the tools, only the applications, or both. Simply click on whatever it is that you would like to work on, and the graph will highlight the AI tools that you might find interesting.

As can be seen from the graph, AI tools are clustered into several different categories: Chatbots / Summarization, Digital Avatars, Automation, Marketing Tools, Document Search, Image Generation, Research, Coding. While chatbots and summarization tools were very popular after ChatGPT was released, it seems like currently attention is much more attracted to digital avatar creation, marketing tools, and coding, which are basically B2B tools and thus probably easier to sell. Below, we list some of our favorite tools in each category. You can also use the graph to explore them by function:

    Summarization

Here the clear winners are ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity AI. The latter has a live domain-crawling capability, which means you can limit its context with a whole website, rather than just a page or a document. Tools like Humata and ChatPDF are useful for analyzing PDF documents (e.g. research papers). While InfraNodus can perform all these functions and will especially appeal to the visual thinkers because it represents an underlying knowledge graph structure to help users choose the aspects of the original data source they need,.

    Digital Avatars

While Synthesia is the most advanced and probably most famous app, HeyGen offers all the same features for a much lower price. Both allow you to update footage of yourself (or an AI-generated video of a digital avatar, which you can create using MidJourney and then RenderNet, Luma, or Kling) as well as a sample of your voice. Provide a transcript, and you have a ready-made video lip-syncing to your content. Interestingly, the big tools do not always offer consistent results, but a smaller tool called SyncLabs works really well and is almost free.

    Automation

While there are multiple automation tools out there, we like Make.Com for automating workflows between different apps and Browserflow for browser-based tasks (via an extension). Another interesting tool is GumLoop, because it has an easy-to-use visual programming interface for connecting different workflows.

    Text Analysis and Research

Here there are two clear winners: QuillBot and InfraNodus. They are best used in combination. QuillBot is great for grammar, paraphrasing, and AI detection. InfraNodus is very useful for analyzing the content, finding the main topics and gaps, and using the built-in AI for generating ideas.

    Marketing and Content Creation

Our clear favorites here are InfraNodus and Frase. InfraNodus has multiple import options that allow you to get external content, such as Amazon reviews, Google search results, and such. While Frase is a great tool for SEO-optimized writing using AI. So you could perform the initial analysis in InfraNodus, generate an outline for an article, and then use Frase to write a SEO-friendly version of this article. You can, of course, also use tools such as Writesonic or Jasper AI, but they are not as well optimized for SEO as Frase and can be a bit clunky for writing.

    Chatbot Creation

This is especially useful for customer support and knowledge bases. Our favorite here is to either use ChatGPT’s custom GPTs (with a public shared link) or an app called ChatBase that allows you to create a custom GPT for any website (using the content you provide). A big disadvantage of ChatGPT’s solution is that your users will need a paid ChatGPT account to use it, while ChatBase can be used for free.
